Iranian Parliament Inaugurates Masoud Pezeshkian As President

JAKARTA - Masoud Pezeshkian officially serves as the 9th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, after undergoing the inauguration and taking the oath before the Iranian Parliament on Tuesday.

Pezeshkian took the oath of office at the inauguration ceremony attended by delegates from around 88 countries and senior Iranian government officials, quoted from IRNA July 30.

As part of the oath, the president vowed to use all his talents and qualities to carry out the duties he has carried out as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Pezeshkian also vowed to preserve Islam, the system of the Islamic Republic, and the Constitution as President of Iran.

"As president, in front of the Qur'an and the people of Iran, I swear to God Almighty to be the official guardian of religion and the system of the Islamic Republic and the state constitution," Pezeshkian said in a ceremony broadcast live on state TV quoted from The Times of Israel.

The inauguration ceremony began at 16:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday in the main hall of the Iranian Parliament in downtown Tehran. He then delivered a speech to the audience in parliament.
