IDX Boss: Capital Market Company Partly Performs Merger And Acquisition

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) Iman Rachman said the companies in the capital market mostly merged and acquired.

Astra's example. Astra, when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) has made several acquisitions to this day, has made several acquisitions. In fact, for example, Mandiri also made acquisitions and so on," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 30.

According to him, the company becomes bigger in the capital market by means of a quantum leap, which is a leap by setting targets above the average.

That is, said Imam, the company not only grew organically from the profits obtained, but was encouraged to grow inorganically in the capital market through M&A.

In this case, his party can only facilitate collaboration and synergy, both acquisition and merger of companies in the capital market ecosystem.

"So, the stock exchange cannot force it because we are not advisors (health workers), we are not financial advisors who make matchmakers or adapt (attention) companies to do M&A. However, the exchange encourages (encourage) with existing regulations, making it easier for companies to carry out acquisitions, either between Tbk companies (open) and Tbk, or Tbk with non-Tbk for example," he said.

For example, several BUMN Karya initiatives to carry out acquisitions and mergers are strongly supported by the IDX by providing rules that facilitate these processes.

He emphasized that his party wants top ten big cap companies (ten companies with the top big capitalization) in capital markets such as Astra, BCA, Mandiri, Telkom, and BRI to be bigger, at least at the Southeast Asian level.

"So, maybe that's the role the exchange has played, so that the stock exchange was big, because for us, we really want to see our stock exchange to be big," said Iman.
