Ship Overturned In Mauritania, 15 Dead, 150 Others Missing

JAKARTA - Fifteen people were killed and more than 150 people missing after a ship carrying 300 passengers from Gambia capsized near the capital Mauritania, Nouakchott.

The Atlantic migration route from West Africa's coast to the Canary Islands, which is usually used by African migrants trying to reach Spain, is one of the deadliest routes in the world.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, July 24, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Mauritania's coast guard rescued 120 people and 10 of them were immediately taken to hospital.

While the search for more than a hundred people has continued.
