West Sumatra Residents Propose JR On Limits For 5 Days Of Collection Of 50 Thousand Support For Candidates For The 2024 Pilkada

SUMBAR - A resident of Padang City in West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Miko Kamal submitted a judicial review or judicial review of General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 2 of 2024 to the Supreme Court (MA).

"If this judicial review is received by the Supreme Court, then I will move forward through an independent route," said Miko Kamal in Padang, Wednesday, July 24, quoted by Antara.

Miko said there were several important points that were considered to have harmed the constitutional right to participate in the political contestation of the 2024 Pilkada.

First, Miko assessed that PKPU Number 2 of 2024 regulates the stages and schedule for the election of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors to only be released and promulgated on January 26, 2024.

According to him, the PKPU did not specify the stages for individual candidate pairs. The PKPU only lists a schedule to fulfill the requirements for support for individual candidate pairs in general, from May 5 to August 19, 2024.

The details of the schedule for the fulfillment of the requirements for supporting individual candidate pairs only officially exited on May 7, 2024 through KPU Decree Number 532 of 2024.

Furthermore, Miko said the next oddity regarding individual candidate pairs was only given five days to collect 50,000 support.

Meanwhile, when compared to candidates for DPD RI members who only need 5,000 e-KTP support requirements, they are given 14 days.

This refers to PKPU Number 10 of 2022 concerning the nomination of individual participants for the general election for DPD members.

"So it doesn't happen to apple, whether this individual regional head candidate will be neglected," he said.

Therefore, Miko assessed that the PKPU Number 2 of 2024 does not reflect the values of justice so that his party submits a judicial review to the Supreme Court as a form of legal action.
