SAR Susur Sungai Searches For Missing Man After Repairing Boat In Rawa Luwu Timur, South Sulawesi

The joint SAR team conducted a search operation for a man who was missing in a swamp on the banks of the Angkona River, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province (Sulsel).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin PS said the man was named Muchtar (40) who was reported missing by his family at 15.25 WITA.

"We received information that there has been a dangerous condition for a resident who went missing in a swamp on the banks of the Angkona River," Aminuddin said when contacted in Kendari, Wednesday, July 24, as reported by Antara.

He said, based on the report and because East Luwu was still in the Kendari Basarnas Working Area, his party then dispatched a team to be dispatched to the location to provide SAR assistance at 15:40 WITA.

"The distance from the location with the East Luwu SAR Alert Unit is about 22 kilometers with cloudy weather conditions with the potential for rain," he said.

Aminuddin revealed that in the process of searching for victims, several elements were involved, namely the East Luwu SAR Alert Unit, East Luwu BPBD, PSC PKM Malili, Malili Firefighters, Anggana Unit Firefighters, surrounding communities and families of victims.

"The tools used in the search for victims are rescue cars, rubber boats, medical SAR equipment, communication equipment, and other safety support equipment," said Aminuddin.

He conveyed that the disappearance of the victim began when he went to Lakawali Market at 08.30 WITA. After leaving the market, the victim then headed to the riverside swamp to repair his boat.

"At 13.05 WITA, the victim's wife headed to a riverside swamp to call for lunch but the victim was not found," said Aminuddin.

He added that at that time, the victim's wife only saw the victim's sandals, machetes and boats that were not tied. The search has been carried out, but until now the victim has not been found.
