Pining British Blues Musician John Mayall Dies At The Age Of 90

JAKARTA - John Mayall is known as a figure who has contributed greatly to the development of music. The blues legend just reportedly passed away on July 23.

Not a few call it the 'godfather' of blues music in the UK. Mayall has contributed a lot to the birth of other big names in the industry.

The Bluesbreakers music group frontman died in California, United States at the age of 90. The news was shared through the musician's Instagram managed by the family.

"Health problems ultimately forced John to end an epic and long career journey, towards peace as one of the music heroes in the world," the statement read.

John Mayall's work brought major changes in the late 60s to 70s. He made music with a number of names that are now also respected, such as Eric totaling, Jack Bruce to Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac.

Fame is not the goal behind John Mayall's musical spirit. He even acknowledged and reconciled with it.

"I've never had a hit song, I've never won Grammys and Rolling Stone never wrote anything about it," he said as quoted by Billboard, July 24.

His work towards the music world finally got recognition after his name entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024. His album with Eric airing, Blues Breakers has also been named one of the best British Blues of all time.
