Minister Of Home Affairs Hari Sabarno And The Corruption Scandal Of Fire Trucks

Instead of sincere intentions in building a damkar, the funding has become a forum for new corruption as revealed by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW). This problem makes the space for the damkar movement not optimal. Firefighters are forced to use limited equipment. A condition that makes the safety of firefighters a question.

The collapse of the New Order regime had brought hope. Firefighters' conditions are considered to be much better. In fact, not much different. Every day the procurement of goods is carried out, the results are always corrupted. Corruption is no longer a small matter.

The corruption covered the Megawati Soekarnoputri era government plan to present additional fire engines in 22 regions in Indonesia in 2002. Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Hari Sabarno immediately asked the Director General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Oentarto Swang Mawardi to make radiogram number 027/1496/OTDA dated December 13, 2002.

The control of radiogram by Hari was really used by Hengky to make a profit. Hengky so moved freely to take advantage of the radiogram to 'force' the regional head with the order of the Minister of Home Affairs to buy fire engines from him.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) smelled an odd smell in the project in 2008. Hengky was immediately arrested because he was considered to have inflated prices. The mode is like a thug. Hengky was also detained. The facts on trial were even more astonishing. Hengky received a payment of IDR 227.1 billion for the sale of 208 fire engines in 22 regions in the era of 2002-2005. In fact, the production cost of 208 cars is only IDR 141.5 billion.

The KPK smelled state losses in the difference in payments and total production costs of Rp. 86.07 billion. Hengky was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Hengky then dragged Minister Hari and regional heads who participated in enjoying the flow of corruption funds.
