Wild Elephant Herd In West Lampung Paired With GPS Collar
A herd of wild elephants roaming the Sub-Districts of Suoh and Bandar Negeri Suoh, West Lampung Regency was fitted with GPS Collar, to monitor the position of the protected animal.
"Yes, so the installation of GPS collars to a herd of 18 wild elephants, one of which has been fitted with GPSCollar, Friday (19/7) morning," said the supervisor of the Elephant Conflict Task Force Suoh and Bandar Negeri Suoh (BNS), Sugeng Hari Kinaryo Adi. reported by ANTARA, Saturday, July 20.
He said the position tracking device was in the form of a necklace attached to one of the elephants in the group of wild elephants.
"This was done first against the elephant and the sustainable one who was part of the group of wild elephants, totaling 18, to facilitate the installation of the GPSCollar," he said.

According to him, the installation of GPS Collars that are carried out on a herd of wild elephants will make it easier for the task force to monitor the presence of these wildlife. "The purpose of installing GPSCollar is to make it easier for the task force team to deal with conflicts between wild elephants in Suoh and Bandar Negeri Suoh to monitor the presence of a group of wild elephants," he said.
