The KPK Ensures That The Semarang City Government's Corruption Is Not Related To Mbak Ita's Candidacy As An Incent Mayor

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the investigation into allegations of corruption within the Semarang City Government (Pemkot) was carried out because there was a criminal incident. This step is not related to the plan of the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu or Ms. Ita to become an incumbent candidate in the 2024 Pilkada.

"So what we are considering is the results of the investigation, the adequacy of evidence to go up to the investigation. The rest is not there. Whether they are running (nominated) or not, we are not included in the consideration of the realm," said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted Thursday, July 18.

Asep ensured that the anti-corruption commission had pocketed evidence to ensnare the suspects in this case. Thus, the alleged corruption handled has been investigated from the investigation.

"We are purely in the realm of law. When two pieces of evidence are fulfilled, then also the results of the exposure are stated (sufficient, ed) so all participants are exposed (approving, ed) that this is an increase in fingerprints, yes, we carry out an investigation," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK stated that there were three allegations of corruption within the Semarang City Government that were being handled. The details are the procurement of goods or services within the Semarang City Government from 2023 to 2024, the alleged extortion of civil servants for incentives for collecting taxes and levies in the Semarang City area as well as the alleged receipt of gratuities from 2023 to 2024.

There have been four people who have been prevented from leaving the country for the first six months. The details are two state administrators while the rest are private.

Based on information circulating, those prevented were Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu who was the Mayor of Semarang with her husband, Alwin Basri; Chairman of the Association of Indonesian National Construction Implementers (Gapensi) Semarang City, Martono; and Rahmat Djangkar who is a private party.

In addition, investigators also conducted searches at a number of locations in Semarang City, Central Java. One of them is the office of the Mayor of Semarang.
