Russia Increases President Putin's Security, Due To Attacks On Trump And PM Fico?
JAKARTA - Kremlin spokesman said Russia has always stepped up security against President Vladimir Putin, despite a number of attacks carried out on a number of figures in the world.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump survived the shooting on Saturday last week, although he was injured. Some time earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico received an attack that resulted in him having to undergo intense surgery and treatment.
"For clear reasons, security has been improved regardless of the events mentioned above," Peskov said, answering questions about the need to step up President Putin's protective measures.
"The protection of the head of state is ensured at the appropriate level, all that is needed is being carried out, taking into account, of course, the escalation of international tensions in general," Peskov explained.
Earlier, Ukraine's Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov on July 13 spoke of President Putin's assassination plans.
Quoted from PressTV, Budanov, who is on Moscow's list of terrorists and extremists for his activities, revealed Kyiv's attempts to kill President Putin in an interview with Ukrainian news media NV.
He claims his service has made several attempts to kill the Russian president, without providing further information.
"(Efforts to kill Putin) did happen, but, as you can see, so far have not worked," said Budanov.
