Keir Starmer Rewards Joe Biden Jersey Arsenal No Back 46, Symbol Of Strengthening British-US Relations

JAKARTA - British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer will give Arsenal FC's favorite club jersey to President of the United States (US) Joe Biden. The prize is a symbol of strengthening English-US relations.

The jersey will be equipped with jersey number 46, referring to Biden's list of names on the order to become US president. In the near future, the jersey will be handed over via British officials to White House staff.

"It was his favorite team and he thought it would be a personal gift," said Soerang, a senior British official on Downing Street, quoted by the Independent.

Starmer, who is also the leader of the British Labor Party, is Arsenal's seasonal ticket holder. Starmer hopes the prize can be personalized to strengthen "very special relations" between Britain and the US.

Starmer revealed the plan to give this prize when he met Biden in the Oval Room, the official workplace of the US President in Washington, Wednesday, July 10 local time.

Initially Starmer and Biden talked about the England national team's work at Euro 2024. Biden asked, "will football go home?" --said football back to England, where the game was found.

"It looks like that," replied Starmer.

"That's because you're Prime Minister," replied Biden.

In his inaugural meeting with Starmer, Biden later said the US and Britain were the best allies.

Starmer's arrival to the US is also to attend the peak of NATO's 75th anniversary commemoration.

Starmer then congratulated Biden for successfully hosting the celebration. In front of Biden, Starmer said NATO is the organization of the military alliance between many strongest countries.

"NATO is bigger, NATO is stronger, and NATO is the answer we need," said the 61-year-old British PM.
