Camat Cakung Denies If Residents Of Kampung Sawah Don't Have RT RW

JAKARTA - Cakung District responded to a demonstration by thousands of residents of Kampung Sawah, Jalan Komarudin, Pulogebang Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta with demands for the formation of RT and RW in their area.

According to the Cakung sub-district head, Fajar Eko, actually the residents of Kampung Sawah already have existing RTs and RWs. However, they demanded a breakdown or expansion of the RT only.

"So actually the RT already exists. So they live or occupy the area or RT 01/05 area, Pulogebang Village. However, from our residents, they asked to be divided," said Sub-district Head Fajar Eko to VOI, Wednesday, July 10.

The sub-district head added that the sub-district actually facilitated the complaints submitted by residents of Kampung Sawah. The Cakung sub-district also invited representatives of residents to visit the Cakung sub-district office on Wednesday, July 10.

However, the residents actually brought a large number of people. Even residents actually held a demonstration in front of the Cakung District Office and had blocked access to Jalan Raya Bekasi.

"We from the sub-district facilitated, inviting the request from the residents of Sawah Indah Village (WKSI) from RT 01/05 for the breakdown of the RT," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the demands of the residents by asking for the formation of RT/RW, Fajar promised to continue to accommodate the aspirations of its citizens.

"We will facilitate this request. We will also consult with the Mayor's level. God willing, we will finish what the aspirations of the community are, but the public also needs to know that there are other parties who object," he said.

The sub-district head said, based on information from residents of the rice fields, they only occupy state land in the area.

"Indeed, the authority to establish RT/RW is in the village, but with the approval of the sub-district head. However, when there is a problem, we can consult first. Before a decision is made or not (RT), we will consult (to the East Jakarta City Government level)," he said.

Previously, it was reported that thousands of residents of Sawah Village, Jalan Komarudin, Pulogebang Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta stormed the Cakung District office on Wednesday, July 10, afternoon Residents demanded the formation of RT and RW in their area.

The residents' actions took place since 12.00 WIB. Residents came with a number of posters and banners with various writing demands from their actions.

"I haven't had RT and RW for 25 years, so it's dark. Is it good to be a dark resident? Sick, embarrassed," said Nurhasanah (39) to VOI at the demonstration site.
