Dragged Into The Job Applicants Data Fraud Case, The Boss Of The PGC Wahana Store Denies Opening The Workshop

JAKARTA The name of the Wahana Store cellphone counter at PGC Cililitan was mentioned in the case of fraud and misuse of job applicant data for online loans (pinjol). The owner of the Wahana Store cellphone counter spoke up in this case.

Widianto, the owner of the Wahana Store, denied that his cellphone counter opened job vacancies. With this news, he admitted that he felt aggrieved.

"It's not true that we opened job vacancies. So if you say job vacancies, it's a lie. Because if there is a locker, it will be written and online," Widianto told reporters, Tuesday, July 9.

The same thing was also said by Arif Iskandar, another Wahana Store employee. According to Arif, the company where he works has never opened a locker or ordered its employees to look for new employees.

"Especially for admins, and asking for ID cards and others, there is none (of Wahana Store). We have never received a CV or application from job seekers," he said.

Arif further explained that the reported initial R had also worked at the Wahana Store after it was discovered that he had committed the fraud.

"So since May 27, 2024 has not worked anymore and there is confirmation of WA's chat with my boss. Since someone asked that, about the (lowongan) workers," he said.

However, the owner of the Wahana Store said he would cooperate if there was a call from the East Jakarta Metro Police.

"Obviously, to clear the name of the company again, later my boss will cooperate when he is summoned as a witness, he will definitely come to fulfill the summons," he said.

Arif also said that R's actions were related to fraud and pure embezzlement at R's own initiative. Arif also explained that he had suspected the behavior of R before the case surfaced.

As previously reported, 27 job applicants became victims of fraud and embezzlement with the mode of personal data theft used for online loans by a mobile phone counter. The victims also reported the incident to the East Jakarta Metro Police.

Dozens of residents were initially promised a job on the condition that they submitted their ID cards and cellphones along with an application letter to R, an employee of the Wahana Store PCG Cililitan mobile phone counter shop, Kramat Jati.

However, apparently, R stole the job applicant data to apply for an online loan. In fact, the total loss suffered by 27 victims was more than IDR 1 billion.
