Considered Unsuitable To Hold The 2024 Regional Head Election, KPU Considers Mahfud MD's Criticism

Acting Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Mochammad Afifuddin thanked the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam), Mahfud Md, who highlighted his institution after the dismissal of Hasyim Asy'ari as Chairman of the KPK by the Indonesian DKPP.

"Of course we thank (at) all criticism, input to the organizers," said Afifuddin in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta (Jaksel), Monday, July 8, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, Mahfud's statement was an expression of affection for the democratic process.

Therefore, he emphasized that what is of concern to all parties will certainly be the attention of the KPU as well as the organizer of the election.

The man who is familiarly called Afif also saw that the criticism sent to the KPU was a reminder to maintain professionalism and integrity ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"We see it as criticism and also as a reminder for all of us to always be professional and maintain the integrity of all of our ranks ahead of the election," he said.

Previously, the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Mahfud Md, highlighted the quality of the KPU after the dismissal of Hasyim Asy'ari as Chairman of the KPU related to immoral cases.

Through his personal X account, Mahfud assessed that the current ranks of the Indonesian KPU do not deserve to be the organizers of the 2024 Pilkada.

"In general, the KPU is now not worthy of being the organizer of the regional elections which are very important for Indonesia's future," Mahfud wrote in his X account.

This is because there have been various negative rumors regarding other Indonesian KPU commissioners after the Hasyim scandal was revealed.

One of them is the suspicion that every KPU commissioner gets 3 luxury official cars.

There are also reports of excessive actions, namely leasing jets for official purposes.

"Information from the chat of the Podcast source Abraham Samad SPEAK UP, each KPU commissioner now uses 3 luxury official cars," he wrote.

"There are also excessive jet rentals (for official reasons), as well as other facilities if you go to an immoral (sorry) area. The DPR and the Government need to act, not be silent," he continued.

This is what makes Mahfud believe that the government and the DPR should take action against the commissioners and not allow that to happen.

According to Mahfud, the reshuffle or replacement of all commissioners of the Indonesian KPU should be considered in line with the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"The replacement of all KPU commissioners needs to be considered without having to postpone the upcoming November Pilkada. Also without having to cancel the election results that have been decided or confirmed by the Constitutional Court," concluded Mahfud.
