Google Pixel Users Experience Boot Loop While Using Spotify

The upcoming Pixel 9 series from Google may receive a warm response, as users with older Pixel models experience some serious problems ahead of launch. Recently, problems have been found that affect Pixel 6 devices which cause some phones to become unusable when resetting factories. Now, users with newer models face similar problems when using the Spotify app.

Reports from users on GooglePixel's subreddit state that while playing songs on Spotify triggers boot loops on several Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 devices. Luckily, unlike the factory reset problem affecting Pixel 6 devices, users can recover their devices by forced restarting using power buttons and volumes. This new problem appears to also affect Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 devices.

Users report that turning off notifications and clearing caches of the Spotify app appears to be able to solve this problem. However, the move doesn't work on all affected devices and, in some cases, it only provides temporary help. Currently, deleting the Spotify app appears to be the only reliable solution.

It's hard to ascertain the exact cause of this problem right now, but it's likely related to the Spotify app update that started rolling out to users on July 2. Spotify and Google have been contacted to provide further explanation. While waiting for more information, users are advised to delete Spotify apps if they experience this problem on their Pixel devices.

Meanwhile Spotify has confirmed that this issue has been resolved, and affected Pixel users should now be able to play songs without going into a boot loop. If the problem still continues on the device, Spotify recommends restarting the app.
