NSFW Ads Appear Again On YouTube, Even Though Google Promises To Fight It
JAKARTA - YouTube is again facing problems with NSFW content. Hadlee Simons reported that about eight months ago, there were pornographic advertisements on the platform, and now it appears that the same problem has surfaced again.
Reddit users with username Academic_Yak2513 found two NSFW ads for a game, featuring pornographic snippets (allegedly to avoid YouTube sensors). Surprisingly, other Reddit users note that this suspicious ad uses footage stolen from other porn games.
One of these infringing ads can be seen in the Reddit thread, but keep in mind that its content is basically a snippet of pornography.
This isn't the first time YouTube has hosted a suspicious ad like this. In December 2023, the platform also faced problems similar to pornographic advertising.
"Bad actors sometimes disguise content that violates our policies to avoid detection. To fight this, we invest heavily in our policy enforcement and continue to monitor our network for abuse," the company said at the time.
However, YouTube has yet to provide an explanation of how these advertisements continue to appear on the platform. This is very embarrassing given the company's previous claims that they are investing "massively" in their policy enforcement.
This suspicious ad also comes as Google increases its crackdown on Premium YouTube ad blocking and registration via VPN. It is clear that the company is investing in enforcing some of its policies, but it appears they need to step up efforts to fight infringinging advertising and pornographic bots that leave comments.
