AI Is Getting Popular, Elon Musk's Deepfake Is Used To Collect Crypto

JAKARTA - Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly popular with users. Its easy-to-use nature has attracted millions of users worldwide. However, not everyone uses AI for good and informative things.

Many users abuse AI to make deepfakes and deceive people. In the latest incident, one makes a deepfake video of Elon Musk on YouTube and uses it to illegally collect a lot of cryptocurrencies.

Deepfake is one of the biggest threats to AI. A YouTube livestream that lasts about 5 hours is used to collect cryptocurrencies from viewers.

The streaming features Elon Musk's deepfake and is used to run large-scale cryptocurrency scams. The live broadcast was designed in such a way that it looked like Elon Musk's original video from several Tesla shows.

However, the perpetrators changed parts of the live broadcast where Elon Musk's deepfakes seem to ask viewers to visit suspicious websites and deposit their Ethereum or Dogecoins to follow cryptocurrency giveaways.

This video is played over and over again and viewers are promised to receive twice the amount of cryptocurrency they deposit. Of course this is a scam.

The live broadcast earned up to 30,000 viewers and has even become a trend on the YouTube's live now feed. Both the channel and video have been deleted, but this still doesn't cover up the fact that many people may have sent their cryptocurrencies because they believe it is real.

We really need strong regulations from the government and companies that develop and work with AI to ensure that there is no fraud and abuse of AI equipment. This is just the beginning and if it is not properly regulated, then the situation may get worse in the days to come.
