Trump's Banks, President Biden Says Cancellation Of Roe V. Wade Is A Terrible Thing
JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden said handing over abortion issues to the state was a "terrible thing."
He conveyed this in a presidential election debate with Donald Trump at CNN studio, Atlanta, Georgia, Thursday night local time.
"Most of the constitutional experts supported Roe (v. Wade) when it was decided," he said in response to former President Donald Trump, who defended the cancellation of the important case.
"The idea that they are all against him is ridiculous," said President Biden.
He then warned the state not to decide on abortion laws.
"The idea that states can do this is a little similar to saying that we will return civil rights to the state," President Biden said.
The President also mentioned cases of women who were pregnant due to rape.
"It's ridiculous and they can't do anything about it," he said.
President Joe Biden dismissed a competitor's claim, Roe v. Wade allowed doctors to kill babies "in the ninth month".
Trump said, under Roe v. Wade, doctors were allowed to "revocation of the baby from the uterus in the ninth month, and kill the baby."
"That's absolutely not true," Biden replied.
"Roe v. Wade doesn't regulate it that's not the situation. Only if a woman's life is in danger, or she will die. That's the only situation where it can happen," he said.
It is known that the Supreme Court in 2022 canceled Roe v. Wade, who acknowledged abortion rights and legalized them nationally in a 6-3 conservative majority ruling, making the battle over abortion rights shift to state courts.
The president himself made the Supreme Court's decision to cancel Roe v. Wade, and Trump's repeated promises to go further in limiting access to abortion if he won in November, at the heart of his re-election campaign.

During a speech in March, President Biden promised to codify the abortion-related protection listed in Roe v. Wade into federal law if he wins a second term, but he acknowledged that it would require cooperation from Congress controlled by the Democratic Party.
Previously, he also called for Roe's codification into law when he ran for president in 2020.
