SYL's Children Monitor The Prosecution Session This Afternoon

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL will undergo a trial reading the demands for the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities, today. His wife and children are said to be monitoring the trial process.SYL's attorney, Djamaluddin Koedoeboen, said that his client's son and wife would monitor the trial. SYL is said to be ready to listen to it."God willing, he (SYL) is ready," said Djamaluddin.Not only SYL, two of his former subordinates, namely the former Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono, and the former Director of Ministry of Agriculture's Equipment and Machinery, Muhammad Hatta, will also undergo a trial to read the demands.In this case, SYL was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period.This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.This money was used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
SYL was charged with violating Article 12 letter e and Article 12 letter f or Article 12B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
