Anies Baswedan Plans To Expand Electric Vehicles In Jakarta, State Electricity Company Guarantees The Electricity Supply Is Safe
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan plans to increase the use of electric vehicles in the city. General Manager of the State Electricity Company (PLN) Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Doddy Pangaribuan, admitted that his party has sufficient electricity supply to support this.
Doddy said that PLN has been supplying electricity with a capacity of 10.301 megawatts in Jakarta. He noted that the city's need for electricity during normal conditions was only 4.300, which was channeled through 59 substations.
"That way, there is still an electricity supply reserve of 150 percent of Jakarta's total needs. This means that we still have enough electricity reserves to serve the additional needs for electric vehicles", said Doddy in a virtual discussion, Wednesday, March 17.
Meanwhile, to support the electricity needs of private vehicles, PLN provides 1.847 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) for two-wheeled vehicles.
Then, SPKLU for four-wheeled vehicles are in five locations, namely in Gambir, Bulungan, Senayan City, Aeon BSD, and Supermall Karawaci areas.

Moreover, he said, this electricity supply support also adds to the income for PLN. "In turn, we ourselves will benefit commercially by utilizing the abundant electricity spare parts in Jakarta", he said.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies planned to operate 100 Transjakarta buses based on electricity this year. By 2030, Anies also wants to operate 10.051 Transjakarta buses based on electricity.
By developing electric vehicles, Anies hopes to reduce congestion in Jakarta. Because, currently, Anies sees the traffic of vehicles from inside and outside the city passing through Jakarta, the number has exceeded the number of residents who have a DKI ID card.
"The number of vehicles, both private and public vehicles, is often more than the number of residents in the city", said Anies.
Then, Transjakarta must also have the support of reliable operators as providers of electric transportation services for Transjakarta, which targets that by 2030 all of its fleets will have completely switched to using electricity.
"To switch to the electric mode, we are cooperating well with the operators. We hope that they really understand that in the future Transjakarta's priority is electric buses.
Later, operators who work with us to serve the public will have electric buses whose brands, quality, and specifications we have tested. The goal is clear, to reduce Jakarta's emissions to a minimum", said Jhonny.
