National Police Chief Sends Propam To Irwasum Assistant For Vina Murder Case

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that he had deployed his ranks to assist in the Vina murder case that occurred in Cirebon, West Java.

"I think colleagues see that a series of Vina cases have become a public concern. We have advised the West Java Regional Police and also dispatched an assistance team from Propam, Irwasum, and Bareskrim Polri, because the incident did occur in 2016," Listyo said when met at the Bhayangkara Fun Walk 2024 at Bhayangkara Field at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 22.

The National Police Chief also said he had ordered his staff to investigate the case, even though the case had already been processed in court.

"Even though the case is currently in court, there has been an inkrah decision, however, we ask to investigate it," he said.

Regarding the handling of the West Java Regional Police against one of the suspects in the Vina case, namely Pegi Setiawan, General Sigit stated that he had ordered the examination to be completed with the Scientific Crime Investigation (SCI) stage.

The National Police Chief requested that the case be handled thoroughly and handled in a professional and transparent manner. "Because this is a public concern. Give a sense of justice," he said.

Regarding the investigation into Vina's case, the West Java Regional Police handed over the case file for the murder of Vina and her boyfriend, Eky, to the West Java High Prosecutor's Office on Thursday (20/6).

The West Java Regional Police, as conveyed by the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, has also completed the case file for the main suspect on behalf of Pegi Setiawan alias Perong to be transferred to the West Java High Prosecutor's Office.

The West Java Regional Police have examined 68 witnesses related to the murder of Vina and Eky in Cirebon after nearly 8 years of the case being unresolved.

He said dozens of witnesses were asked for their statements by investigators and they were also asked to take a forensic psychological test.
