Ridwan Kamil Becomes The Jury For The Urban Planning Program For The World To Represent Indonesia

JAKARTA - Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil who is familiarly called Kang Emil is trusted to represent Indonesia as a judge of the World Resource Institute (WRI) Ross Center Prize for Cities 2023-2024. He will assess five of the hundreds of urban planning programs or urban spatial planning plans.

"Ridwan Kamil is the Governor of West Java, Indonesia with a population of more than 50 million people," wrote WRI on the official website quoted on Wednesday, June 19.

In addition, Ridwan Kamil also has a track record as an architect. Thus, he was given the opportunity to give a joint assessment of a number of figures such as Stephen Ross who became the leader of the jury, Tatiana Bilbao, Jennifer Semdiula Musician, Harini Nagendra, Sheela Patel, and Enrique Penalova.

There were about 200 programs included in the award event. The origin of 148 cities and 62 countries which were sent from 26 June-26 September 2023.

Of the hundreds of programs, the top five will be selected and will be presented before the jury. The spirit of WRI Ross Center Prize for Cities to present a transformation that has a big impact so that Ridwan feels honored.

"I have the honor of being the judge representing Indonesia to choose the best urban planning program in the world," he said.

"Unfortunately, there is no one from Indonesia yet. Hopefully in the future there will be," concluded the former Mayor of Bandung.
