Xi Jinping Calls Soldiers Facing Deep Problems Related To Corruption Eradication
JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping said there was a "deep problem" in China's political, ideological, style of work and military discipline amid ongoing military anti-corruption cleaning.
"There should be no hiding place for corrupt elements in the armed forces," Xi said as quoted at a military political conference this week in the northwestern city of Yanan.
Cadres at all levels, especially senior cadres, must appear, dare to rule out prestige and expose their shortcomings. Must introspect in depth... make serious improvements, solve problems to the root of his thoughts," Xi added.
"Political tests currently faced by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) are 'complicate and complex' and the national situation, the party situation, and the military situation are all experiencing complex and deep changes," Xi said in a key speech before military cadres, including Zhang Youxia and He Weidong, second and third in PLA command.

The Chinese military has been undergoing massive anti-corruption cleaning since last year, with nine PLA generals and at least four aerospace defense industry executives removed from the national legislative body to date, including from the PLA's strategic rocket forces that oversee tactical and nuclear missiles.
A number of other defense industry bosses have been fired from the country's political advisory body.
