Komnas HAM Receives Complaints From Lawyers Convicted Of Vina Cirebon Case
Komnas HAM received complaints from the legal team of six convicts in the murder case of Vina Dewi Arsita alias Vina Cirebon, who reported the problem of obstacles to providing legal assistance to the convicts.
The six convicts in the Vina murder case were Eko Ramadhani, Hadi Saputra, Eka Sandi, Jaya, Supriyanto, and Sudirman.
"The Komnas HAM Complaints Service this afternoon received the complaint," said Komnas HAM Commissioner Anis Hidayah as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 19.
Anis said Komnas HAM would carry out further coordination to follow up on the complaint.
On Wednesday afternoon, the legal team of six convicts in the Vina murder case came to the Komnas HAM Office to submit the complaint.
"We came here to coordinate with Komnas HAM regarding the obstructions and obstacles when we provided legal assistance to six inmates in the Vina Cirebon case," said a spokesman for the attorney for six convicts in the Vina case, Romi Sihombing.
He revealed that the legal team was not given access to meet his clients by the heads of correctional institutions (prisons) and state detention centers (rutan) in Bandung which accommodated the six convicts.
The six convicts are currently undergoing criminal sentences at the Kebon Waru Detention Center, Banceuy Prison, and Lapas Rutong.
"Until now, we have not been given access to meet with six inmates, so we view the need to coordinate with Komnas HAM regarding the Vina case because Komnas HAM provides attention to this case," he said.
Romi hopes that Komnas HAM will synergize with the legal team in providing access so that they can meet the six convicts.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of PBH Peradi and a member of the legal team of six convicts of Vina's case, Suhendra Asido Hutabarat, said that the community has the right to legal protection. If not given access, it can hinder the fulfillment of these rights.
"To get access to justice, it should not be hindered. This is what we hope for with our arrival to Komnas HAM. We hope that Komnas can oversee Vina's case, including so that we can immediately get power and access to the convict," he said.
Before making a complaint to Komnas HAM, the legal team of six convicts in the Vina murder case had also visited the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to complain about the same thing.
