7 Prisoners In The Vina Cirebon Case Apply For Grace But Jokowi Rejects
The seven convicts of the 'Vina-Eky Cirebon' murder case are said to have applied for clemency to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). However, the effort failed because the application was rejected.
"The perpetrators also had time to apply for clemency to the president. Where, in the clemency was conveyed by the convicts at that time so it was submitted on June 24, 2019," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Shandi Nugroho to reporters, Wednesday, June 19.
In the petition, the defendants also attached a statement letter. It contains regret for what he has made.
With the letter, the seven perpetrators indirectly acknowledged their involvement in the 'Vina-Eky Cirebon' murder case.
"I fully realize that my actions were wrong and regretful due to my actions which caused suffering for the families of koban and my own family," said Shandi reading the letter of application for clemency for the perpetrators.
However, President Jokowi rejected the clemency. They must receive criminal sanctions in the form of life imprisonment
"The decision of the clemency was made with number 14G2020, regarding the rejection of the clemency request. It means that the request from the perpetrators was rejected by the president with the clemency decision," said Shandi.
Seven people who applied for clemency in the murder cases of Vina and Eky, namely, Aditya Wardana, Eko Ramadhani, Hadi Saputra, Jaya, Eka Sandi, Sudirman, and Supriyanto.
Meanwhile, in handling this case, the West Java Police have completed the preparation of the case file for the suspect Sigi Setiawan alias Perong in the alleged murder case of Vina and Muhammad Rizky alias Eky. Investigators plan to hand it over to the West Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati).
"The hard work of West Java Police friends who carry out professional, procedural, and proportional investigations day and day, God willing, tomorrow morning the case will be submitted to the prosecutor's office," said Shandi.

In compiling the case file, investigators put forward the statements of 70 witnesses and experts. Some of the testimony was burdensome for the suspect, Pegi Setiawan alias Perong and some were mitigating.
Not only that, investigators also put forward expert statements such as criminal experts, forensic experts, psychologists, and IT experts.
The expert's statement helped investigators to uncover the murder case of Vina and Eki scientifically crimes investigation.
"The witnesses who were examined for the suspect in the Pegi alias Perong case were 70 people and of them there were 18 witnesses who incriminated the suspect Pegi and others there were mitigating witnesses," said Shandi.
