Once Created An Ex-wife, The President Of The US And Kim Jong-un Waited, Vladimir Putin Was 'Karma' By Erdogan

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin is making a state visit to North Korea to hold a meeting with the country's leader, Kim Jong-un on Wednesday.

President Putin was originally scheduled to arrive in North Korea on Tuesday night local time. However, he was late in line with the Kremlin's announcement, where President Putin stopped first in Yakutsk City, reported The Korea Times June 19.

He met regional governor Aisen Nikolayev to interact with young professionals and local residents, before flying from Yakutsk with his private jet between 21:00 p.m. and 22:00 p.m. local time, where there is no time difference with Pyongyang.

President Putin arrived in Pyongyang in the early hours of Wednesday, at around 03.00 local time and was greeted directly by Leader Kim on the plane's stairs on the red carpet after landing at the airport, TASS reported.

This is not the first time President Putin has been 'lated' from schedules during state visits or other official events. Citing74k, German Chancellor Angela Merkel became the world leader who had been waiting for President Putin for the longest time in 2014. Chancellor Merkel waited 4 hours 15 minutes.

Leaders and other world figures who have been made to wait include the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (3 hours), the UN General Assembly Session (1:20) of the Indian Prime Minister, Pope Francis and President Donald Trump (1), King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustav and President Barack Obama (40 minutes), the late Queen Elizabeth (14 minutes) to the shortest President Joe Biden who was made to wait 4 minutes at the meeting in 2021.

However, President Putin does not appear to be too late to attend certain press conferences and events, The Mirror reports.

However, there was one moment when President Putin had to be 'karma' and wait for the leader of a friendly country, when he visited Iran on July 19, 2022.

Hosted by then Iranian President, the late Ebrahim Raisi, President Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Tehran.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Tehran on July 19, where he was hosted by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, was a rare overseas effort for the increasingly isolated Russian leader.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the two leaders are scheduled to meet, with President Putin and reporters and photographers having to wait for President Erdogan's presence.

Love this. I've never seen Putin wait for anyone. When I worked in the USG, he always made others wait -- Obama for 45 minutes; Kerry for 3 hours. Petty karma payback. https://t.co/VsFIhMjhVh

Later, a video of the Kremlin Leader waiting circulated on social media and sparked scathing comments.

"I really like this," tweeted Michael McFaul, a former US Ambassador on social media X.

"I've never seen Putin wait for anyone. When I worked at the ultrasound, he always made other people wait, Obama for 45 minutes; Kerry for 3 hours. Small karma reply," he continued.

Not only during state visits and official events, his ex-wife, Lyudmila Putina told in her memoir, Putin was "it's always too late for their date."

"I remember waiting near the metro. The first fifteen minutes of delay was okay, 30 minutes was okay too," he wrote, according to the Russian MK newspaper.

"But when it's been an hour, and he hasn't arrived yet, you just want to cry. And after 90 minutes, you really run out of emotion."

One of the late moments of attention is that it is currently making former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich, one of his closest international allies, wait for the full four hours in Crimea in June 2012. The reason? President Putin met with the pro-Kremlin "Night Wolves" motorcycle gang.

There has been a lot of speculation about the reasons behind President Putin's delays over the years. Official reasons given by the Kremlin, if true, tend to mention schedule conflicts, traffic problems, or flight delays; sometimes, Russian officials deny any delays at all.
