Due To Too Spicy, Mi Buldak From Korea Was Withdrawn From The Market In Denmark

The Danish government ordered the recall of three types of spicy noodles from the Mie Pedas Buldak brand produced by Samyang Food, reported by The Korea Times, Friday, June 14. This producer is known as the first instant noodle maker in Korea. The reason the Danish government asked to withdraw from the market is because of the risk of acute poisoning due to high levels of capsaicin in the product.
There are three types of products from these manufacturers that must be withdrawn from the oldest country in Europe. These include the Samyang Buldak Chicken Ramen 3x Spice, the Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen 2x Spice, and the Samyang Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen Type Stew.
According to a statement by the Danish Food and Animal Supervisory Agency, the DTU Food Institute assessed that the total levels of capsaicin in one pack of the three noodle products were very high, causing the risk of consumers experiencing acute poisoning.
Instant noodle products that are asked to be withdrawn from the market are sold across supermarkets in Denmark, special stores, and online stores. Danish officials advise consumers who own the product to "throw it away" or return it to the shop where the product was purchased.
This spicy noodle is also referred to as mi fire' because of its extreme spicy taste. In one packaging, according to the capsaicin concentration size, it contains 8,706 SHU (Scoville Heat Unit). Meanwhile, Buldak Ramen 2x Spicy has a rating of 10,000 SHU and Samyang Buldak Chicken Ramen 3x Spicy with a rating of 13,000 SHU. In comparison, jalapeno chilies have a rating of 4,000 SHU and harbanero chilies between 100,000 to 350,000 SHU.
