Clashes Of 2 Groups In Wouma Jayawijaya, Police Strive For Community Leaders' Meeting To Reduce Residents' Emotions
JAYAWIJAYA - Jayawijaya Police personnel are currently deployed to reconcile the two clashing groups in Wouma District.Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Heri Wibowo said, apart from reconciling, his party was trying to prevent further clashes between the two groups that were fighting over traffic accidents on May 17, 2024 in the Megapura area, Asolokobal District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains."Until now, we continue to strive to reconcile the two warring groups, so that they do not attack each other again, causing casualties," said Heri Wibowo when contacted from Jayapura, Antara, Friday, June 14.He said the residents who attacked each other were a group from Kurima District, Yahukimo Regency, with people from Asolokobal District and Asotipo, Jayawijaya Regency.The attack that took place in Wouma last Thursday left two people dead and five others injured as a result of clashes using sharp tools, stones, and traditional weapons such as arrows."We have isolated the two warring groups and approached community leaders from both sides in order to control their respective communities," said AKBP Heri Wibowo.
According to him, meetings with community leaders are very important to reduce the emotions of both parties and find peaceful solutions.With the help of figures from both parties, he said, it is hoped that they can solve problems so that there will be no more disputes and the security situation will return to conducive.
