IPhone Users Can Record And Copy Calls On IOS 18

JAKARTA The iOS 18 operating system is in the spotlight on the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event. There are many iOS 18 features that Apple introduces, one of which is the ability to record calls. At the annual event for the developers, Apple revealed that iPhones with iOS 18 can record and copy the entire call content. Although users can record calls freely, Apple still prioritizes privacy. If you activate a recording device while calling, Apple will notify its interlocutors automatically that their conversations are being recorded. When the interlocutors object to the recording, they can end the call. Reporting from The Verge, the call recorder device will appear at the center of the screen during the call. This feature will display a sound wave icon, recorded time duration, to a turn-off button that can be tapped at any time. Interestingly, the contents of the conversation in the recording can be copied into text form. Users can enter the audio recording into the Notes application and use the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Apple to do the transcript quickly.

This transcript feature is limited and cannot recognize the whole language. Based on the records on the iOS 18 preview page, it is explained that audio transcripts are only available in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Canton, and Portuguese. This is a very useful feature, especially for journalists who often record and copy calls. Compared to recording using other devices and copying manually, the new feature in iOS 18 can work on both.
