A Big Fire Occurs North Israel After Rocket Shots From Lebanon

JAKARTA - A massive fire broke out in northern Israel on Monday night, June 3. Police linked the fire to rocket fire from southern Lebanon.

The fire scorched an area of about 400 hectares in the northern region, local fire chief Boris Eisenberg said. There were 18 fire fighting teams, including one squadron of air fires, deployed.

"The team worked all night and got control in all sectors," said Eisenberg, quoted by CNN, Tuesday, June 4.

Two other fires spread in the north due to weather conditions and one missile interceptor crashed into the Biriya forest in Galilean, said Uri Cohen, spokesman for the fire service and rescue in the north.

"We saw the interception and responded with increased strength and high intensity," Cohen said.

Authorities began evacuating residents when a fire broke out during the day local time in the mountainous region ofILia, Israeli police said. Authorities said they were helping evacuate residents from homes in Kiryat Shmona, a city north near the Lebanese border.

The fire broke out after Israel warned that heat waves were expected to occur and warned against lighting fires in the forest.

Islamist group Hezbollah in Lebanon said on Monday that it launched drones into Israel's military command in Galilean, causing fires in the building.

The group said the attack was a response to an Israeli attack on Hezbollah's homes and troops in southern Lebanon, adding that three Hezbollah fighters were killed on Monday, June 3.
