Jens Raven And Calvin Verdonk Call Indonesia Already Like Home

JAKARTA - The feeling of joy and relief was expressed by two prospective Indonesian national team players, Jens Ravens and Calvin Verdok. Their naturalization files were approved at the Commission X and III working meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Monday, June 3, 2024.

With this approval, the status of Indonesian citizens (WNI) for Verdonk and Ravens is also getting closer. Both only need to complete a few processes to become a Red and White part.

Although currently not officially Indonesian citizens, Verdonk and Ravens already feel united with Indonesia. Calvin Verdink, who came directly to the Commission X and III meeting at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Jakarta, even admitted that Indonesia was like home.

"I'm happy here. When moments come to Jakarta, there are many hopes and love from the community. It feels like home to yourself," said Calvin Verdok in the middle of the agenda.

Jens Ravens also said the same thing even though she participated in the online working meeting because currently how much France is still with Indra Sjafri and the Indonesian U-20 national team. "This is a special day because all fans make us feel like home, everyone supports it. I think this is a good process to play in Indonesia. I hope to inspire many people, I love you, thank you," said Jens Raven.

On the same occasion, Verdonk, who had previously tried out the training situation with the Indonesian national team, was determined to show his best performance when he became an Indonesian citizen. He wants his presence to also be a motivation for young players.

"I will give my best on the pitch. I want to give (the best look for) the community, motivate them, and be a good example for them, especially young players."

"I want to give something big to the people of Indonesia. I want to help Indonesia to the World Cup," said Verdonk.

As a form of seriousness, Verdonk, who currently still holds the status of a Dutch citizen, even admitted that he studied diligently in order to prove his sincerity in becoming an Indonesian citizen.

"I study Pancasila and the anthem Indonesia Raya, I study almost every night. Indonesia Raya is difficult, I am very proud (will) become an Indonesian citizen," he said.
