Former Walkot Bima Muhammad Lutfi Sentenced To 7 Years And Fined Rp250 Million Corruption Cases

Article 65 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.The indictment of the two public prosecutors relates to the actions of the defendants who participated and/or received gratuities in Muhammad Lutfi's position as Mayor of Bima amounting to Rp1.95 billion.This judge's decision is lower than the prosecutor's demand, which previously asked the judge to sentence him to 9.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 250 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.The prosecutor also asked the judge to charge the defendant to pay compensation for state financial losses worth Rp1.92 billion, subsidiary to one year in prison.The prosecutor conveyed the charges by stating that the defendant had been proven to have committed malicious conspiracy and received gratuities in the procurement of goods and services within the scope of work of the Bima City Government for the period 2018 to 2022.By stating this, the prosecutor asked the judge to punish the defendant by applying the cumulative indictment, namely Article 12 letter i and Article 12B in conjunction with Article 15 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
After listening to the panel of judges reading the verdict, the defendant and the public prosecutor have not yet decided their stance on the decision by stating that they are still "thinking about it".
