Google Assistant Experiencing Resignation In The Gemini Era

JAKARTA After launching Gemini, Google focused on developing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model. Unfortunately, the development of the Big Language Model (LLM) made Google Assistant even more lagging behind. Before Gemini was introduced, Google Assistant was still a very important tool for Google. This Siri competitor continues to be improved to bring the best features on various smart devices, be it mobile, Google TV, and other devices. However, Google Assistant's quality has decreased over the past few months. In fact, some of its features have not been able to be used properly. Apparently, this problem occurs because Google is too focused on Gemini development. Reporting from 9to5google, Google Assistant's performance in Chromecast has become inconsistent and sometimes disappointing. When asked a few things, the answers given were not appropriate and other questions would be directed to YouTube or Google Search. Google Assistant's function at Nest Hub also experienced a setback. If in the past this software worked very well, now many features have been mitigated from the device. Some of its features have also not worked during the last few months. 9to5google explains that Nest Hub removed the alarm function from its pre-sleep routine. Usually, this device will ask about the timing for alarms. While still asking questions, alarms are never re-sched.

In addition, the lights are also never turned off again and Spotify won't turn off after an hour of playback. These various issues seem to be a setback for Google Assistant as many Reddit users have complained of the same thing. It's unclear why Google Assistant's function is getting worse and behind Gemini. If this continues in the future, it looks like the Pixel developer can get rid of Google Assistant completely and only focus on Gemini.
