Turkey Starts Mass Production Of Altay Tanks: Equipped With Digital Technology For Detection, Targeting And Precision Attacks
JAKARTA - Turkey has started mass production of domestically made main combat tanks (MBT) Altay, a top defense official said Wednesday.
"We have started mass production of our national tanks. There are countries that want to cooperate with us on this international basis, and we are continuing negotiations with them," Head of Defense Industry (SSB) Haluk Görg Yunin told public broadcaster TRT Haber., reported Daily Sabah May 30.
The new generation of Altay tanks, produced by BMC Defense under the SSB project, have been upgraded to meet the conditions of modern combat environments.
"Many subsystems have been localized, updated technologies, and innovations have been added to improve their combat capabilities," said Görgön.
Reflecting the experience gained from the latest operations of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), the Altay tank has been equipped with additional features.
"Digital technology is increasingly integrated into the Altay, enabling more precise and rapid detection, targeting, and attacking enemy elements," said Görg Yunin.
The new Altay tank fire control system includes modern technologies such as laser range finders (LRF) and advanced image stabilization systems, which allow for long-range detection and attack targets.

Görg\un also emphasized Turkey's strength in land vehicles, stating: "We are very strong as a country in the field of land vehicles. We have many companies exporting abroad. All their products have advantages that can compete with their global counterparts."
He reported a significant procurement announcement recently and mentioned there will be a new acquisition to be made soon. He highlighted that NATO countries in Europe have chosen their products, there will be new progress in transporting personnel and armored vehicles.
