Slovakia and Peru Support NASA's Lunar Exploration Mission

JAKARTA – Slovakia, a country in Central Europe, has officially joined the Artemis Agreement to support NASA's lunar exploration mission. The signing of the contract was carried out on Thursday, May 30.

As a representative of the country, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the US, Radovan Javorcik, came to NASA Headquarters. The Minister of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of Slovakia, Tomáš Drucker, also attended the contract signing ceremony.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson welcomed Javorcik and Drucker directly to his agency's headquarters. With the support of Slovakia, Nelson is confident that his party can continue to be committed to exploring outer space responsibly.

"Through a new chapter in the partnership of our countries, we will continue the global coalition to explore the universe openly, responsibly, and peacefully," Nelson said, quoted from NASA's official broadcast.

Meanwhile, Drucker said that his country supports the Artemis mission because of its enormous mission opportunities. Drucker is confident that this lunar exploration program can be a mecca for other exploration missions.

“Slovakia views the Artemis Accords as a great opportunity for this generation to positively define the guidelines and principles for responsible and sustainable exploration and use of outer space,” explained Drucker.

On the same day, NASA also partnered with Peru in carrying out its exploration program. Peru became the 41st country, while Slovakia became the 42nd country to join the Artemis Accords.

With the support of Slovakia and Peru, NASA is confident that its exploration mission will go well. NASA and all countries that support it will implement the right principles in carrying out safe and sustainable exploration.
