Yusril Withdraws From UN Chairman, Replaced By Fahri Bachmid
JAKARTA - Prof. Yusril Ihza Mahendra resigned from his position as chairman of the DPP for the Crescent Star Party (PBB) at the Party Council Deliberation (MDP) at the party head office, Jakarta, Saturday night.
As quoted from Antara, Sunday, May 19, Yusril's desire to resign was accepted by the Party Council Deliberation, which was followed by the election of the acting chairman (Pj.), which was won by Fahri Bachmid.
Fahri Bachmid, who previously served as chairman of the Party Court, was elected as acting general chairman in voting (voting) from the ranks of central and regional leaders in the 49-person Crescent Star Party MDP.
In the vote, Fahri Bachmid won the most 29 votes, then the other acting candidate, Secretary General of the DPP Crescent Party Afriansyah Noor 20 votes.
The Party Council's Conference, which is the second highest decision-making forum after the congress, also agreed that the 5th Conference of the Crescent Star Party will be held no later than the end of January 2025.
In the VI Congress of the Crescent Star Party, one of the agendas was to elect and determine the party's definitive chairman.

Yusril, on the same occasion, conveyed his reason for resigning as general chairman because he wanted to rest from the management of political parties. Yusril said that he had led the Crescent Star Party since the party was founded in the early Reformation in 1998.
Yusril continued that despite his resignation as general chairman, he remains active in the world of politics in his capacity as a senior academic and politician. He added that his future political activities would be outside the party, meaning he acted on behalf of himself.
Yusril believes that by being outside the party, he will be more flexible in donating energy and thoughts to solve the nation's problems, including building laws and democracy in Indonesia.
