JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan responded to the statement by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who advised Prabowo Subianto not to bring "toxic" people to his government.Anies interpreted that the "toxic" people Luhut meant were people who had different views from Prabowo's camp.According to Anies, differences of opinion are attitudes that must be respected by everyone. They cannot be interpreted as disruptors or destroyers."Because when we have different views, it doesn't mean that the different ones are worse. Moreover, the different ones are considered poisoning. Not necessarily," said Anies at his residence, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 7.Anies claims that he tends to avoid dictions that label demeaning differences of opinion. According to him, it is an award in the principle of democracy. So, according to the former presidential candidate for the 2024 General Election, the holder of power must be able to accept criticism from the different views of certain parties."When there is a plan to get criticism, it is very healthy. So, those who have the plan must provide a deeper explanation, wider arguments, that's good for the whole community, including those who plan policies," he explained.Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed his message to Prabowo Subianto as the elected president for the 2024 – 2029 period, not to bring "toxic" people or problematic to his cabinet."For the elected president, I said don't bring toxic people to your government, it will be very detrimental to us," Luhut said at the “Jakarta Future Forum: Blue Horizons, Green Growth ” in Jakarta, Friday, May 3.
Luhut conveyed this message to continue the lessons he learned after working in President Joko Widodo's cabinet for the last 10 years. According to him, the problems in the Indonesian government are regulations by the government that are contrary to national interests."I fix a lot of those problems," said Luhut.
