PSSI Stops All Football Competitions In Indonesia In Today's Memory, May 2, 2015

JAKARTA Memories of today, nine years ago, May 2, 2015, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) stopped all football competitions in Indonesia. The decision was taken following the Indonesian government interfering in PSSI affairs.

Previously, the PSSI polemic and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) began with the club's administrative affairs. PSSI is considered to have committed a violation by including Arema Cronus and Persebaya Surabaya in compliance. In fact, the two clubs are involved in dualism in management.

The Indonesian football industry has been tested. The test came from the Ministry of Youth and Sports's intervention against PSSI. The Ministry of Youth and Sports considers PSSI to have committed a serious violation for rejecting the recommendations of the Professional Sports Agency (BOPI).

The contents of the recommendation prohibit the participation of Arema Cronus and Persebaya Surabaya in the football league. BOPI thinks the two clubs did not qualify because of the dualism of the management. PSSI took a stand. Instead, they gave opportunities to both football clubs to play.

The recommendation of BOPI is considered just a wind. In fact, it then became the estuary of the problem. Kemenpora took a stand. Alibi improved the Indonesian football competition used. Kemenpora also took further action.

They sent warnings twice. The result was nil. PSSI did not respond. Problems arose. Kemenpora then took big action. They frozen PSSI in April 2015. The freeze was carried out when PSSI was holding an Extraordinary Congress in Surabaya.

The freezing step was also met with criticism. This action is considered unjustified. PSSI is a member of the World Football Association, FIFA. This means that the government does not have to interfere. Kemenpora's actions could later lead to the birth of sanctions on Indonesian football from FIFA.

As a result, because the Ministry of Youth and Sports all competitions cannot run. Even Indonesia's participation in international celebrations was disrupted. The Ministry of Youth and Sports did not actually consider it.

"I'm not sure that. And I think this is the right time for the Indonesian people to make more serious preparations to organize our football achievements," said Menpora, Imam Nahrawi as quoted on the BBC website, April 21, 2015.

PSS freezing also had a big impact on Indonesian football. PSSI was forced to make difficult decisions. PSSI decided to stop all football competitions in Indonesia on May 2, 2015.

The decision was taken by PSSI because of the force majeure condition. Alias, there is nothing more that can be carried out by PSSI because the state does not serve it. As a result, it was predictable. Sanctions from FIFA by freezing Indonesian football followed.

"PSSI decided to stop the competition due to force majeure conditions. This decision is binding, not only for PT Liga Indonesia, but for all Indonesian football clubs and stakeholders."

"This happened beyond PSSI's will. The state of force majeure resulted in nothing being carried out by PSSI because the state did not serve it. Thus, we declared that all competitions had stopped," said PSSI Deputy General Chair, Hinca Panjaitan as quoted by Kompas.com website, May 2, 2015.
