Bayern Munich In The Second Match Of The Champions League, Tuchel: Must Be More Brave Against Madrid

Bayern Munich picked up a disappointing result for failing to win against Real Madrid in the first match of the Champions League semifinals. Coach Thomas Tuchel wants players to be bolder in the second match at Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Thursday, May 9, 2024 in the morning WIB.

Madrid is clearly not a light opponent for Bayern. Even Los Merengues took the lead in a duel at the Allianz Arena Stadium, Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in the morning WIB. Striker Vinicius Junior successfully broke into Manuel Neuer's goal in the first half.

But Bayern was able to rise. Thomas Tuchel's team still showed quality and class despite failing in the German Bundesliga competition.

They immediately bought up two goals to turn things around. Leroy Sane's goals and then Harry Kane from the penalty spot.

It's just that FC Hollywood's advantage didn't last long. Vinicius scored a brace from the penalty spot after defender Kim Min-jae fouled Rodrygo. The score changed 2-2 and lasted until the end of the match.

Disappointing results, but Tuchel remains optimistic about facing the second match at home to Madrid. He said firmly Bayern would still dominate the game and hoped to appear at Wembley, the top match of the Champions League.

"That's how the result of the match was. It was not worth it after we spent time thinking about and focusing on this match. Madrid only had two chances and managed to finish it as a goal," said Tuchel.

"We are not the first team to experience a situation like this. It must be admitted, they have the quality to do it. We did a good start but then lost the rhythm of our own game," he said.

Lebh further, the former Chelsea manager said, "We should have scored a third goal, but we didn't. Instead we gave them a penalty."

The draw made the two teams' chances remain the same in the second match at home to Madrid.

Although Vinicius scored two goals in an away match, it did not give Los Blancos any advantage. Both Bayern and Madrid had to win a second game to step into the final.

"The situation is clear. We won in Madrid and then to Wembley. The winner took everything," said Tuchel.

"We are ready and accepting the challenge. We went to Madrid with high confidence. We also have to be bolder in this match," he said.

Meanwhile, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said that the draw would provide a psychological advantage for the team. However, he admits the result has not determined anything.

"This is a good result for Madrid when they played the second match. What is clear is that no one has yet passed [to the final]. Bayern also have quality. They have players like [Jamal] Musiala and Sane who make it difficult for us," said Ancelotti.

Bayern are fully focused on the Champions League. The reason is, Die Bayern has lost the race for the league title which was won by Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Madrid are still competing with Barcelona for the Spanish La Liga title. Only, Madrid are just one step away from winning.
