Two Missing Boy Drowning In Krukut River, Still In Search Of Firefighters

JAKARTA - Two boys reported missing drowned in Krukut River Jalan Purification Raya, Bendungan Hilir Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, April 30, afternoon.

The two victims were identified as Muhammad Raffand Subandi (5) and Arifi Mujahidin (18), a resident of Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

According to information gathered, the incident began when a 5-year-old boy was sitting leaning on a motorbike and then the motorbike fell into the Krukut River along with the child.

"Then there was a SMK child trying to help the child, but the SMK child was dragged along by the backflow," said Adit, a resident around the scene, Tuesday, April 30.

The incident was then reported to the fire department of the Hilir Dam. Head of the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal, said that as many as 10 rescue teams from the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. were deployed to the scene to search for victims.

"The search is still being carried out by 2 rubber boats with 10 rescue personnel. The search has been carried out since 10:00 WIB until this afternoon," said Asril when confirmed by VOI.

However, until Tuesday afternoon, the rescue team had not managed to find the whereabouts of the two victims in Krukut River, Tanah Abang.
