Review Of The Architecture Of Love Film: The Story Of A Mixed Romance Of Architecture And Literatur

JAKARTA - Teddy Soeriaatmadja is back with his latest film, The Architecture of Love, which is adapted from the novel by Ika Natassa. This film also features a number of top Indonesian actors, including Putri Marino and Nicholas Saputra.

The election of Putri Marino as the actor of Raia has been revealed since 2020, but it took several years until this film entered the production process and finally aired this year. This film is also a wait for its original material fans to bear fruit.

The Architecture of Love tells the story of Raia Risjad (Putri Marino), a best seller writer who chooses to flee to New York, United States after finding her husband cheating. A few months there, she had a writer's block that left no writing complete.

Raia also took part time at a bookstore and lives with Erin (Jihane Almira). Erin's figure also helped Raia forget her past by introducing her to Aga (Jerome Kurnia). One day, Raia meets River Jusuf (Nicholas Saputra) at a cultural night event. Short talks lead to meeting after meeting.

Like Raia, River also claimed to have fled to New York from Jakarta. River, who works as an architect, shows Raia a lot about the building and the stories behind it. Raia began to have a passion for writing with River's presence and put feelings for her.

Raisa, who likes River on the one hand, feels that River doesn't respond to her feelings. River always disappears from Raia and then appears at will.

This film plays sweetly like a classic romance. The interaction between Raisa and River was built slowly and in full detail. The audience was invited to get acquainted with Raisa and River, two people who fled the capital for one reason, were traumatized.

One of the most interesting is the expression on the faces of the players who are very shining. Putri Marino showed Raia's fragility which was kept tightly in her smile, as well as Nicholas Saputra who presented various emotions in his character.

Every building has a story and it radiates from how the buildings in this film are not a patch but helps develop Raia and River relations. The premise may sound typical, but the execution has succeeded in becoming fresh considering that Indonesian romance films have rarely been around in the past few years.

Some parts may also make the plot a bit boring, but the climax saves the film. Consistent topics make this film flow smoothly without many twists or subplots widening everywhere.

The Architecture of Love is a romance film that is easy to love with the story, the characters, the visuals that perform well. As one of the romance films that is present in the midst of the rare similar genre films, The Architecture of Love is highly recommended to watch.

The Architecture of Love will premiere today, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Indonesian cinemas.
