Mount Ruang Sitaro Has Alert Status, 828 Local Residents Are Evacuated

SULAWESI There has been an increase in volcanic activity, the status of Mount Api Ruang, Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi has become level III (Alert) from level II (Alert).

"The rate of activity of Mount Ruang is raised from Level II (Alert) to Level III (Alert) starting April 16, 2024 at 16.00 WITA," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari in his statement, Wednesday, April 17.

Abdul also said that the eruption of the Ruang Volcano resulted in a number of areas being affected. So that 828 people had to be evacuated, in order to avoid unwanted incidents.

He detailed that of the 828 affected people, 45 people were at the BPU Building, Tagulandang District. The remaining 783 people were at the home of relatives and relatives on the mainland of Tagulandang Island.

"The evacuation location is at the GMIST Church Bahoi, Bahoi Job Training Center, Gagulandang Sports Center, General Meeting Center (BPU) in Tamulandang District," he said.

"Alternatively related to the expansion of the impact of the eruption, houses of worship will function in the South and North Tagulandang areas," he continued.

Regarding the handling, the Regent of the Siau Islands, Tagulandang Biaro (Sitaro) has established an emergency response due to the eruption. Counted for 14 days starting April 16-29, 2024.

"The regional government has prepared personnel in the field consisting of BPBD, Tamulandang District apparatus, Kampung, Kelurahan, SatPol PP, Firefighters and Health Office with a total of 30 personnel," he said

Meanwhile, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) provides recommendations at the Level III Space Mountain (Alert) activity level as follows:

1. People around Mount Ruang and visitors / tourists should remain vigilant and not enter a 4 km radius area from the active crater center G. Ruang.2. People around Mount Ruang are expected to be calm, active as usual, not provoked by rumors about the eruption of Mount Ruang and continue to follow the development of Mount Ruang activity through the MAGMA Indonesia application which can be downloaded on Google Playstore or through the website.
