Iran Attacks Israel, IRGC: Respons To Zionist Regime Crime
JAKARTA - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims to have carried out an attack on Israel, saying it was in response to an attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria that killed a number of Iranian military elites.
Iran's official news agency IRNA reported the IRGC in a statement announcing their air force fired dozens of missiles at certain Israeli targets in the occupied territories, as quoted on Sunday, April 14.
"The attack is a response to various crimes committed by the Zionist regime, including attacks on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus and the killing of a group of commanders and advisers to the military of our country in Syria," the statement said.
According to the IRGC Public Relations Office, details of the operation, carried out with the approval of the Highest National Security Council, under the supervision of the Iranian Armed Forces' General Staff, and with the support of the Army and Iran's Ministry of Defense, will soon be made public, citing Tasnim.
In Israel, Israeli spokesman Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Iranian drone and missile attacks against its country, saying their fighter jets and air defense systems were alerted to anticipate.

Iran is known to have pledged to punish the Zionist regime for its deadly aggression against the country's diplomatic mission in Syria, which is considered to have violated international law and the Vienna Convention.
The April 1 attack killed seven members of the IRGC, with two of them being senior generals. Those killed were Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, Brigadier General Muhammad Hadi Haji-Rahimi, Hossein Amanollahi, Sayyid Mahdi Jaladati, Mohsen Sedaqat, Ali Agha Babaei and Sayyid Ali Salehi Roozabahi, citing Khamenei.ir.
