Tanjungbalai Karimun Lanal Arrests A Gang Of Thefts On Ship
TANJUNGPINANG - Tanjungbalai Karimun Naval Base arrested four members of a gang of theft specialists on board, precisely in the waters of Pongkar Beach, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands.
The Commander of Lanal Tanjungbalai Karimun Lieutenant Marine Colonel (P) Anro totaled that the four arrested perpetrators had the initials FY (28) as captain, AS (35), AH 25 and SL (37).
"The four of them are residents of Karimun," said Anroatur in his statement at the Tanjungbalai Mako Lanal, Karimun, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 1.
The perpetrators were arrested by the F1QR patrol team Lanal Tanjungbalai Karimun when crossing using an unnamed pompong boat towards the southern part of Pongkar waters or heading to the Takong Iyu area on Sunday (31/3) in the morning at around 02.45 WIB.
Furthermore, the patrol team stopped the pompong and checked all crew members (ABK).
"ABK admitted that they had just committed theft on top of the tug boat," he said.
The perpetrators deliberately targeted ships passing through Karimun waters at low speeds ranging from 2 to 5 knots.
This made it easier for the perpetrators to loot any items quickly and move them onto the pompong ship they used in action.

"The targets are ships at low speed, such as tugboats or tug boats. We are also still exploring modes with other groups involved in similar crimes in the Malacca Strait and Singapore and Karimun waters," added Lieutenant Colonel Anro.
Based on the results of the examination, the perpetrators admitted that they had carried out the action since March 25, 2024. The number of ships that had been looted was three units of ship typeng boats.
In addition to arresting the four perpetrators, in this case Lanal Tanjungbalai Karimun also confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, including three Y keys, five ring pads, two tang keys, two hammers, one machete, two iron saw handles, three iron saw eyes, four cell phones, three spare bags, and South Lasran.
The four specialist perpetrators of theft on board have now been detained to undergo further legal proceedings.
