Floods Also Hit Dozens Of Residents' Houses In Cakung, East Jakarta
JAKARTA - Dozens of houses in RW 04, Rawa Terate Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta were flooded due to overflowing Cakung River, Friday.
One resident of RT 16/RW 04, Rawa Terate, Nani said the rain that has flushed Jakarta since Thursday night, March 21 caused Cakung River to overflow and the water has submerged dozens of residents' houses since 05.00 WIB.
"Earlier, the height was about as young as an adult or about 60 centimeters (cm). Indeed, it is here if it rains heavily from night, it will definitely be flooded in the morning," he said.
According to him, none of the residents fled because now the water has begun to recede.
Residents only move their homes and vehicles to higher ground so they don't get submerged in water.
Nani hopes that the East Jakarta City Government will immediately take steps to solve the flood problem in the Cakung River so that the RW 04 Rawa Terate area will not continue to be affected.
"Please handle it, so that not every heavy rain continues to flood. If it's flooded, it's a hassle too, activities are difficult. School children can't. Not to mention, we clean up the remaining mud from the flood," said Nina.

Cakung District stated that the flood that submerged residential areas of RW 04 Rawa Terate Village was triggered by the intensity of heavy rain from Thursday to Friday.
Camat Cakung Fajar Eko Satrio explained that the flood did not last long because based on the results of monitoring the water discharge in RW 04 Rawa Terate gradually receded during the day.
"RW 04 has receded, RW 05 has 10 centimeters remaining. The cause of the flood is due to local rain and overflow of Cakung Drain. Water from local rain often enters Cakung Drain," said Fajar.
