Different From Others, BMW Group Books Significant Electric Vehicle Sales Growth From The Beginning Of The Year

JAKARTA Different from other car manufacturers who experienced a decline in demand for environmentally friendly vehicles since the beginning of the year, BMW Group showed a positive start in 2024.

The best-selling models earlier this year began the BMW 7 series model BMW X7, Rolls-Royce including the electric Rolls-Royce Spectre. This achievement reflects the confidence in the name of this brand which is still so strong in the global market.

Reporting from a release on the BMW Group page, March 21, the company recorded a significant increase in sales of electric vehicles (BEVs). In the first two months of this year, BMW Group's BEV sales jumped double digits compared to the same period last year.

The United States is the main market for the BMW Group BEV, with sales nearly double in late February. Double-digit growth was also recorded in Europe and China.

Strong demand for BMW Group models, both BEVs and vehicles with efficient internal combustion engines, is key to the company's success. The high flexibility and responsibility in value chains also allows BMW Group to adapt to dynamic market situations.

Meanwhile, the German automaker also said the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicle remains an important part of BMW's electrification strategy. More than 560,000 BEV and PHEV units have been sold in 2023, equivalent to 22 percent of BMW Group's total sales.

In total to date, BMW Group has sold 2 million units of electrified vehicles (BEV + PHEV) with 55 percent being PHEV and 45 percent BEV. BEV sales have shown faster growth in recent years.

About MINI Brands And Rolls-Royce

BMW Group reiterated that MINI and Rolls-Royce will switch to electric vehicles completely from the early 2030s. The New MINI Family and Rolls-Royce Spectre are the early models of this transition.

Production of the New MINI Countryman has begun at the BMW Group Leipzig Factory, where it will be produced as a fully electric vehicle and with an efficient internal combustion engine.

BMW Group is optimistic about maintaining growth in the years to come. NEUE KLASSE, which will launch in the second half of the decade, is expected to accelerate the penetration of the electric mobility market.

More than 50 percent of all sold BMW Group vehicles are predicted to have full electric drive before 2030, with a possible higher percentage if PHEV is calculated.
