Stop Export Of Fry, Observer: KKP Minister Trenggono Continues Susi Pudjiastuti's Policy
JAKARTA - Fisheries Observer Suhana appreciates the move of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, not to export lobster seeds. Suhana said, this step is the right decision because it can maintain the sustainability of lobster stocks in Indonesian nature.
Not only that, but Suhana also welcomed the plan to control the export of fry that will collaborate with law enforcers, in this case, the Police. This step has also been taken since the leadership of Susi Pudjiastuti.
"In my opinion, this is appropriate and has been done since the period of Mrs. Susi Pudjiastuti, the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, and the BKIPM-KKP have worked together to take action against lobster seedlings abroad," he told VOI, Monday, March 1.
However, said Suhana, apart from taking firm action against the lobster seed smugglers, the KKP also needs to continue to provide education to lobster fishermen to jointly preserve lobster resources in nature. Because currently, more than 99 percent of lobster production in the world is a supply of natural catches.
This means that lobster production still relies on natural production or capture fisheries. Meanwhile, lobster cultivation in the world has not yet developed well.
"Therefore, maintaining lobster stock in nature is very important, considering that until now world lobster production is still very dependent on the supply of catches in nature," he said.
Suhana said, maintaining the sustainability of lobster stocks in nature will help maintain the sustainability of the lobster economy. In fact, the world's lobster-producing countries have also implemented various rules to preserve lobster resources in nature. For example, Australia, England, Honduras, Nicaragua, and India.

"The awareness of the world's lobster producing countries to preserve natural resource stocks is getting higher. Therefore, the steps of Minister Trenggono and the ranks of the KKP to preserve lobster resources in nature need to be well supported by all stakeholders in Indonesia," he said.
As previously reported, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that he prohibited the export of lobster seeds or fries during his tenure. Later, the fry can only be cultivated in Indonesia.
"The fry, I am certain I will ban the export of them. Why? Because the fry is a wealth of this nation, a wealth of Indonesian nature," said Trenggono, as quoted from his personal Instagram @swtrenggono, Sunday, February 28.
The ban on the export of fry, said Trenggono, was due to the potential for criminal acts of corruption. In fact, this has already happened in the case of Edhy Prabowo.
Later in the supervision or prevention of fry export, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will collaborate with the Police. So, all parties or persons who try to violate will be subjected to criminal charges.
"Now in my time, I say that the result of this case has been held. But I declare in front of all of you that I will definitely stop it and that we will ask the police chief for help to always prevent the issue of fry export," he said.
