Difficult To Find A Coach, Barcelona Asks Xavi Hernandez To Cancel Resignation
JAKARTA - Barcelona hopes coach Xavi Hernandez will cancel his withdrawal. Because of this, Barca has difficulty getting the top coach even though currently not a few are unemployed.
Xavi has declared his resignation after the competition. Whatever Barca's results include winning the title, Xavi will still resign. This was revealed by him when Barca lost 5-3 against Villarreal in a Spanish La Liga duel at home.
However, the club hopes that Xavi will cancel the plan to withdraw. Moreover, Xavi still showed good performance. Barca won four wins and drew two in the last two matches.
This makes the third-placed Barca begin to overshadow the leadership of the Real Madrid standings. Currently, Barca have pocketed 57 points. They are still eight points adrift of Madrid. Meanwhile, Girona, who is in second place, has 59 points.
Barca Sports Director Deco said the club did not want to let Xavi go. According to him when renewing his contract, Barca believes in the long-term project prepared by Xavi.
"I don't want Xavi to leave. We are updating [the contract] because we believe in the long-term project he has prepared. But he said there are personal problems and that is the reason for him," said Deco.
Not only Deco as a club official, but previously Barca President Joan Laporta had conveyed his wish that Xavi would not leave.
"I have the same opinion as the president. I want Xavi to stay [at Barca]," said Deco.
"But this is Xavi's decision. And he can change it. It's up to him. But if he wins the Champions League, I'll ask to consider it," he said again.
Barca asked Xavi to withdraw because it was a bit difficult to find a new coach who met the club's qualification. Even Deco stated that for now no top coach could be recruited.
Although a number of names have been mentioned, such as Hansi Flicks, Thomas Tuchel to Jurgen Klopp, Barca have yet to make an official offer.

"We never mentioned a new profile coach because we haven't looked for a single coach. Moreover, the competition season is not over yet," said Deco, who defended Barca from 2004 to 2008.
He brought the Blaugrana twice to win La Liga, one to win the Champions League and two to win the Supercopa de Espana.
Barca have actually targeted Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. It's just that Arteta is not interested in leaving Arsenal. Barca also gave up on him.
