Bandarlampung City Government: Restrictions On Purchasing Rice Only In Modern Retail

BANDAR LAMPUNG - Bandarlampung City Government (Pemkot) said the restriction on rice purchases only applies to modern retailers, because their current supply is only from Perum Bulog.

"Currently in modern retail, rice supply is only from Bulog and it is subsidized, so there are indeed restrictions on purchases, two sacks of rice measuring 10 kg per person, the purpose of equitable distribution to the community," said Bandarlampung City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Iwan Gunawan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 23.

However, it was emphasized that the restrictions on the purchase of rice did not apply in traditional markets, because the stock was still sufficient until before Ramadan.

"Today we are conducting a review of a number of traditional markets and modern retailers, to ensure the availability of food, especially rice. In traditional markets, it turns out that there is a lot of availability, it's just that the price is increasing," he said.

Meanwhile, in modern retail, rice stocks have become scarce for some time, currently, subsidized rice from Bulog has been filled.

"So people don't worry and panic, because the availability of rice in Bandarlampung is still safe," said Iwan.

Separately, the Head of the Bandarlampung City Food Service, M Yusuf, said that the average rice needs for residents of this city reached 7,050 tons in a week.

"If the supply of rice until the third week of this month is still safe with the availability in the supplier warehouses amounting to 8,150 tons, while the need is 7,050 tons in a week," he said.

Meanwhile, Tamin Market Trader Mrs. Edi said the rice stock was sufficient and a lot, even now the SPHP rice from Perum Bulog has also entered for price equity.

"If the price of rice from suppliers continues to rise, since the last three months, the reason for the supplier's price of unhulled rice has increased," he said.

The price of premium rice currently ranges from Rp. 17,000 per kilogram, which is good at around Rp. 3,000 per kilogram from before.

"The increase also occurred in rice with medium quality, which was previously Rp. 14,500 per kilogram, now it is Rp. 15,000 per kilogram, while for as long as we sell rice, we sell Rp. 14,500 per kilogram because taking from the supplier is already Rp. 14,000 per kilogram," he said.

The availability of government rice reserves (CBP) spread across four branch offices and 13 Bulog warehouses in Lampung totaled 15,573 tons. The availability of rice at the Bulog Lampung warehouse complex of 15,573 tons will continue to be added until it reaches the target of 50,000 tons by 2024.
