Jair Bolsonaro, President Of Brazil Who Likes To Grab The Land Of Indigenous Peoples
JAKARTA - Jair Messias Bolsonaro was once an enemy with the Brazilian indigenous peoples. The leadership of the President of the Right Wing of Brazil is considered a lot of harm, rather than benefits. Bolsonaro often issues pro-investor policies.
This condition is for the livelihoods of indigenous peoples to be marginalized. Traditional lands belonging to the Yanomami Tribe to Kayapo were seized to build the mining industry. The impact is everywhere. Amazon Forests are barren and the lives of indigenous peoples are increasingly threatened.
Efforts to swerve from military officers to the world of politics are not difficult. Bolsonaro has proven it. His political steps are more successful than his previous military career. He was able to become a Member of the Council to the Federal Deputy Rio de Janeiro. The political career lasted quite a long time from 1989-2018.
Bolsonaro's confidence is increasing. He tried new challenges to compete in the high-level political contestation, the 2018 Brazilian Presidential Election. He likes to make businessman and President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, his mentor.
Many Trump campaign promises are used by Bolsonaro. Take for example Bolsonaro's choice of starting to formulate conservative views into campaign tactics. He fully supports the preservation of Evangelical Christian teachings. Religious values were used as the basis for him to act away from the Brazilian people from bad. Mainly, the practice of LGBTQ+.
Another strategy introduced by Bolsonaro is to support liberal economic and pro-market policies. Everything is to increase the lives of the Brazilian people. After that, the Brazilian people will reap economic growth.
Crimes and corruption are also trying to be eradicated. The promise was included in the political agenda and paid off. The majority of the Brazilian people cast their votes on Bolsonaro. The result was brilliant. He who ran with the Social Liberal Party (PSL) was able to come out as the winner of the 2018 presidential election and was fully inaugurated in early 2019.
The victory made all Brazilians collect Bolsonaro's promise. Some have been realized by Bolsonaro. However, the affairs of increasing the lives of the Brazilian people did not go smoothly. Bolsonaro did not seem to consider the presence of indigenous peoples who inhabit the Amazon Forests.
The indigenous peoples were forced to follow the progress of the times and get out of the forest. A lesson so that he is free to build the mining industry. Along with this appeal, Bolsonaro began his mission to destroy indigenous peoples. Bolsonaro seemed to give blessings to those who carried out large-scale forest logging.
Its customary lands were seized. The narrative was condemned by the world. However, Bolsonaro insists the Amazon Forest is purely Brazilian wealth. Countries that think the Amazon Forest is the lungs of the world are asked to remain silent. Because Amazon is entirely Brazil's wealth affair.
We understand the importance of Amazon for the world but Amazon belongs to us. There will be no more policies as we have seen in the past that have had a bad impact on everyone. We preserve more rainforests than anyone else. No country in the world has a moral right to talk about Amazon. They are like destroying their own ecosystem.
You want indigenous people to continue to live like prehistoric humans who do not have access to technology, science, information, and the wonders of modernity. Indigenous people want to work, want to produce, but cannot. They live isolated in their area like cave people. What most foreign press does to Brazil and to these people is a crime," said Bolsonaro as quoted by Dom Philips in his writing on The Guardian page entitled BolsonaroDeclares 'The Amazon is Ours' and Calls Deforestation Data 'Lies' (2019).
Bolsonaro is adamant that the soil grabs and without Amazon Forests are carried out entirely for indigenous peoples. He wanted to see indigenous peoples can develop and prosper. Traditional people are considered to have to live as the Brazilian people do, not only living in isolation, let alone in the forest.
Bolsonaro's wishes are unanimous. He even contributed to weakening the institutions that protect the rights of all indigenous peoples, from the Yanomami Tribe to Kayapo. Andil made the indigenous people no one defend. His rights are violated by the state.
This condition made Bolsonaro start his 'destroy' agenda for indigenous peoples. The land clearing project by utilizing the Amazon forest has been carried out since 2019. He no longer cares about the source of life of indigenous peoples damaged to extinction.
Not a few land clearings have been done. Take for example the piece of data released by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). They revealed that Amazon's forest lost an area of 11,088 square kilometers or seven times the size of London in the period August 2019-July 2020.
All due to logging, land clearing, and fires. Instead of sympathize with the indigenous people, Bolsonaro, nicknamed Donald Trump from Brazil, continues to carry out controversy. He defended desperately investors, compared to indigenous peoples.
This condition continues to make an impression even though Bolsonaro has not served since 2022. The Brazilian indigenous people continue to condemn Bolsonaro. His successor, President Luiz Inbowo Lula da Silva, accuses Bolsonaro of committing genocide against various ethnic groups, especially Yanomami in the Amazon Forest.
The allegation reasoned that Bolsonaro gave permission to gold miners in the area that should have been prohibited. This attitude makes indigenous peoples make Bolsonaro like a common enemy.

When illegal mining was rampant during Bolsonaro's tenure, a humanitarian crisis emerged in an area where indigenous peoples considered it a home. The miners of Bolsonaro's sub-district are accused of poisoning rivers with mercury and destroying forests. The Yanomami tribe relies on both -- rivers and forests -- as a source of food it affects."
Laula also accused miners of threats of murder and sexual violence. More than a humanitarian crisis, what Lula saw was genocide. A planned crime against Yanomami, committed by the government that does not care about the suffering of the Brazilian people, "explained Sanya Mansor in his writing on the TIME page entitled "Why Lula Accused Bolsonaro of 'Genoccide' Against Brazil's Yanomami People (2023).
